Kathy Hutchings, BA, C.Med, RFM

Kathy is the principal and founder of Constructive Mediations Inc.

Kathy's mediation process is facilitative and interest-based.  Her areas of specialization include construction and contractor disputes, divorce and separation agreements, child custody arrangements, post-divorce agreements, business disputes, debtor/creditor disputes and neighbourhood disputes.  She is a compassionate, supportive and experienced mediator.  Kathy recognizes that separation and divorce are a very difficult time in peoples' lives and wants to help them through this in an effective, dignified and safe manner.

Kathy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta.  She is a Chartered Mediator (C.Med) with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada and has qualified as a Registered Family Mediator (RFM) through the Alberta Family Mediation Society. She is also a member of the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society (AAMS) and Family Mediation Canada.

Kathy has conducted over 1500 mediations since 1999 through the Alberta Provincial Court Civil Claims Mediation Program in the cities of Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer - and through private practice.  She is also a member of the Community Mediation Calgary Society (CMCS) for whom she performs mediations on a volunteer basis to resolve disputes between neighbours in Calgary.

Kathy also regularly provides mediation training and coaching for conflict resolution course participants at Mount Royal College in Calgary.

Since 2000, Kathy has volunteered with the Southwood Youth Justice Committee and has been a member of the executive committee. She has a strong interest in youth and restorative justice issue.

Kathy founded Constructive Mediations in 2006 to focus on providing mediation services to private clients and to clients referred to her by the Alberta Provincial Divorce Court.  While Kathy conducts most mediations herself, she has access to a vast network of mediation professionals who occassionally work for her on a contract basis when additional resources are required.
